  AWID - The Association of Women Industrial Designers - The name says it all.

  Auto & Design - A monthly European magazine addressing issues concerning design in the auto industry. Published in Italian and English.

  Axis Magazine - A Japanese magazine. The AXIS Internet Edition regularly updates and presents news on the AXIS Center for Design and illustrates the latest selection of merchandise characterizing stylish stores in the Center.

  BBC Radio - The British Broadcasting Corporation is the United Kingdom's justifiably renowned radio service.

  Bad Human Factors Designs - A scrapbook of illustrated examples of things that are hard to use because they do not follow human factors principles.

  Berlin's Bauhaus Archive Museum - In Berlin, an homage to many industrial designers favourite design movement.

  Business Week Magazine - The only widely distributed business magazine that recognizes the value of design in business. Their annual review of Design is the single largest impetus to the recognition of good design as a strategic business opportunity.

  Canadian Government on Industrial Design - The Canadian government has done excellent work on promoting Industrial Design. Take a look at this page and the links on it for good insight on Industrial Design.

  Canadian Urban Institute - Toronto based think tank that addresses urban issues with both a Canadian and International focus. Smart people doing important work.

  CCC Magazine - Also known as C3. A UK based design and visualization magazine.

  Centre for Sustainable Design - This Centre facilitates discussion and research on eco-design and broader sustainability considerations in product and service development.

  Chicago Athenaeum - The Chicago Athenaeum is an International Museum of Architecture and Design.

  Canadian Preservation of Chinese Artifacts - The Canadian Foundation for the Preservation of Chinese Cultural and Historical Treasures objective is to promote the desire of Canadians in the education, preservation and appreciation of Chinese cultural and historical treasures.

  Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum - The Cooper-Hewitt, part of the Smithsonian Institution, is located in New York City and is always worth a visit.

  Core 77 - An excellent monthly industrial design e-zine.

  Danish Design Centre - The Danish Design Centre and its journal provides a current account (in English/Danish) of the development within the fields of industrial design, graphic design and design-based corporate management. .

  Dark Sky Association - The International Dark Sky Association goals are to be effective in stopping the adverse environmental impact on dark skies by building awareness of the problem of light pollution and of the solutions, and to educate everyone about the value and effectiveness of quality nighttime lighting. Remember when the stars were bright? Light pollution spoils the night. Light the ground, not the sky!

  Design Council of the UK - In the UK, the Design Council  has for over fifty years been striving to promote the effective use of design - and design thinking - in business, in education and in government.

  Design Management Institute - Based in Boston, Massachusetts, the Design Management Institute is a non-profit organization dedicated to demonstrating the strategic role of design in business and to improving the management and utilization of design.

  Design Week Magazine - A UK based design magazine.

  Eureka Magazine - A leading UK magazine about new ideas in engineering technology for senior design engineers. Of interest to manufacturing, mechanical, materials, electrical, electronic and process engineers.

  FEMA - The most comprehensive guide to personal emergency preparedness published by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Are You Ready? Here is their pdf on Hurricane preparedness.

  FORM Magazine - FORM magazine covers Swedish and international design: furniture, interior decoration, graphic design, industrial design, applied art, fashion and architecture.

  FreeForms.com - A great online provider of legal and business forms and documents. Almost any form or contract that the average business or individual could need is to be found at FreeForms.com. FreeForms.ca has forms for Canadians.

  Gail Comfort - Gail Comfort is a perennial favourite of Country and Western music lovers. Gail introduces neophytes and entertains aficionados to the world of Country and Western Music on her weekly Internet radio show.

  Graphis Magazine - A perennial favourite. This publisher is best known for Graphis Magazine but publishes great books as well. It is the Standard by which design related books and magazines are judged.

  ICSID - The online presence of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design - ICSID. 

  ID Magazine - An ID magazine published in the USA. 

  IDSA - Industrial Designers Society of America - The USA's society web site. Content is useful. IDSA publishes Innovation Magazine.

  IHPVA - Interested in the efficient movement of people over short distances, efficient transportation or cycling? There is no better place to start than joining the International Human Powered Vehicles Association. Remember, the common bicycle is the most efficient form of transportation ever designed.

  Joseph Dawson - Joe Dawson is an up and coming artist. He was born in Canada and now painting in Italy and Ireland.

  Koldinghus Museum  - A museum dedicated to Danish Silver. This justifiably famous museum is housed in a beautiful castle / fortress in Kolding, Denmark. A "must see" if you have a love of Danish silver.

  Musee des Arts et Metiers - A really wonderful French museum with comprehensive displays that would be of interest to any industrial designer. It is worth a trip to Paris just to see this wonderful exhibit. But then again any reason is a good reason to go to Paris.

  NewDesign Magazine - NewDesign Magazine is a new magazine published in Great Britain. We have heard good things about it.

  NorthernSilver.com - If you like Danish cufflinks and tie bars, Northern Silver is the reference site for you. A large selection of Georg Jensen, Hans Hansen, Bent Knudsen and many of the great designers and silver smithies of Denmark.

  PBS - The Public Broadcasting Network, is a gem.

  Penrose Press' List of Industrial and Product Design Periodicals - Penrose Press' superlative list of Industrial Design publications.  This list is ordered by the Country where a magazine is published.

  Product Development and Management Association - PDMA attempts to improve the effectiveness of people engaged in developing and managing new products - both new manufactured goods and new services.

  RTÉ - Radio Telefís Éireann is the Irish National Public Service Broadcasting Organization. This is Ireland's famed public radio and television network. The Irish are always worth listening to. LiveIreland is a worthwhile listen as well if you like Irish music and history.

  RFI - Radio France Internationale is France's fabulous public radio network.

  Rocky Mountain Institute - Well respected think tank on current and future energy and resource issues.  Remember that issues inevitably generate services or products.

  Safe Food Online - Safe Food Online is an Irish/English initiative that attempts to address the issues of safe food. Globally, the handling of food is very problematic. Did you know that your fridge should always be kept below 5° Celsius, your freezer should be at -18° Celsius and that raw meat should be stored on the bottom shelf?

  Shields Up! - Check the vulnerability of your computer to hackers and other mischief.

  River Princess - Do you want to have a wonderful experience cruising the rivers of Europe? Uniworld's ship the "River Princess" is the way to go.   What is Industrial Design - It is difficult to define Industrial Design. Here is the definition promoted by ICSID.

  Balthasar Gracian's: "Art of Worldly Wisdom" - Read this if you want to survive in and around large organizations.

  General Carl Von Clausewitz's: "On War" - Another important read on strategy and tactics. Read this if you want your business to survive and prosper.

  Sun Tzu's: "Art of War" - Read this if you want your business to survive and prosper. Here is a copy in pdf format.

  Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert Pirsig - Read this to better understand a whole bunch of stuff.

  Refus Global - Paul-Emile Borduas' seminal work which was instrumental in "Quebec's silent revolution". A very worthwhile read written by a thinking person's revolutionary. Borduas paid dearly for his insubordination and lived most of the remainder of his life in self imposed exile.

Montreal & Quebec

  CBC Radio in Montreal - CBC has excellent coverage of local Montreal and Quebec issues.

  Canadian Centre for Architecture - Canada's Centre for Architecture, which is based in Montreal, is always a worthwhile visit when in Montreal.

  Centre de Design - The University of Quebec at Montreal has an excellent exposition room that is a must see for the serious industrial designer.

  Government of Quebec - The Province of Quebec is truly a spectacularly beautiful place to visit and an even better place to live and work. Here is the Province's portal.

  Hotel Place D'Armes - A really wonderful boutique hotel in Old Montreal. Decent rates, great service and food. It's spotlessly clean with 48 rooms that have 10 to 12 foot ceilings. Seasoned travelers will appreciate the ultra quiet heating and air conditioning system. We recommend that you make reservations well in advance if you wish to stay there.

  Montreal Institute of Design - The mission of the Montreal Institute of Design is "to promote design as an economic value and have Montreal become a design centre of international calibre".  A very effective organization that really promotes the value of design as an important element of commerce and culture. Check out the "Design Month" section.

  Montreal's Official Tourism Site - The official City of Montreal Tourism site. Montreal is a city that really knows how to treat tourists well and they welcome visitors from all over the world.
