The beauty of bespoke jewellery is that you can get exactly what you want. I can design and make a necklace or bracelet to what ever length you desire. However, as a guide here are the industry standard sizes which are always a good place to start. These lengths have been working for people for hundreds of years so you may find just what you are looking for – but if you don't, let me know and we will make it bespoke to your specifications.

Choosing Chain Lengths for Women

Consider the clothing that is likely to be worn with the necklace. Some women may wear different lengths for different occasions and seasons. A collar or choker length will work on a bare neck but likely will not fit over a turtleneck sweater. Many women opt for longer necklaces in the winter as bulky clothing may require the extra length. Also remember to consider the wearer's size. The right length necklace on a larger woman may look too big on a petite woman. In general, the shorter the necklace, the more important the size will be because a necklace or bracelet that is too short may not fit a larger woman at all.

Choosing Chain Lengths for Men

Most chains and necklaces for men typically fall at the collar bone, which is usually around 20 inches in length. If the necklace includes a medallion, a slightly longer length is suggested. If you are unsure about neck size and whether or not a particular chain fit correctly, please contact me directly via email or phone so we can discuss the options. I am happy to help you decide on a length and style of chain and then make it to your exact specifications.

Ring Size Guide

I make only solid rings that are completely hand-fabricated. Manufactured rings are cast to industry standard sizes but my rings are bespoke and made to the specific size you require. Some rings are relatively easy to adjust up or down a size, but it is always preferable to make a ring the right size from the beginning.

Size is unisex and is number based. The "standard" size for women is size 7; for men, size 10. However I strongly recommend that you determine you exact size with professional ring measuring tools. You can do this with me if we can arrange to meet in the Niagara Region (on either side of the border). Otherwise, most jewellery stores are willing to size you if you ask. Be sure to consider the width of ring you are measuring for because a wider band will need to be a little larger (1/4 to 1/2 size larger) then a ring with a narrow band, and if it has a “comfort-fit” it may be a little smaller. I am happy to answer any questions you may have if you contact me. If we are unable to meet another option is for you to send me a ring that fits you well so that I can size the ring using a jeweler's mandrel, a measured, tapered cylinder used to size rings.

Finally, remember that many things such as warm weather conditions, athletic workouts, and pregnancy can cause fingers to puff up. Also remember that many people find that their knuckles tend to swell as they age so their ring size may also increase.

Bracelet Size Guide

Bracelets close with a clasp or toggle and a bangle bracelet is a solid piece with not toggle or clasp. They are sized differently and I have provided some information below, to help you determine your size correctly. It is important to tell me your size when you place an order so I can make it to your specific size. If you have any questions or require any further customization please contact me. There is nothing like wearing bespoke jewellery.

 MEASURING BRACELET SIZE

To measure your bracelet size, you can follow these simple steps below.

  • STEP 1: Measure your Wrist with a flexible tape measurements or a strip of paper just below the wrist bone, where you would normally wear your bracelet and measure it.
  • STEP 2: If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen on that paper. Then measure that paper strip with a ruler. That would be your wrist size. Now add to your size as explained below.
  • STEP 3: To find your bracelet size, add your wrist size measurement plus the appropriate amount as per the following chart.

FITTING STYLE: Add inch(es) to your wrist Size

    • Snug fit add 1/4" to 1/2" (6 cm to 1 cm)
    • Comfort fit add 3/4" to 1" (2 cm to 2.5 cm)
    • Loose fit add 1 1/4" (3 cm)

MEASURING BANGLE SIZE

To measure your bangle size, follow these steps below.

  • STEP 1: Close your fingers together and bring your thumb to your little finger (as pictured). Pretend that you were putting on a bangle
  • STEP 2: Using a strip of paper or tape measurements, wrap it around your hand at the widest point (it should be pulled taught, not loose). If you are using a plain strip of paper, mark your size with a pen on that paper. Then measure that paper strip with a ruler. That would be the circumference of your hand. Now select a size that is larger then your actual measurement, as explained below.
  • STEP 3: Compare your hand circumference to the chart below. Purchase a bangle with diameter that is the next size up from your actual hand measurement.

7 1/2" (19 cm)
8 1/4” (21 cm)
